In the era of big data, vast and diverse data are stored and managed across various locations in the real world. These fragmented and isolated repositories—so-called “data islands”—significantly diminish the utility of data. To fully realize the potential of big data, it is essential to eliminate such data islands and promote integration. This workshop seeks to explore new directions in database research aimed at enhancing the value and usability of big data. This workshop is jointly organized by the A3 Foresight Program “New Generation Databases and Data-Empowering Technologies” supported by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).
